Chatham Daily News Article - Sept 24, 2010 - Merlin Homecoming

"MERLIN HOMECOMING"

The Merlin District High School Reunion 40/50 held in June [2010] was such a success, attracting over 400 people, the community is planning a Merlin Homecoming event for June 4, 2011.

The event, to be held at Kinsmen Park, is open to anyone who lives or has ever lived in Merlin and surrounding area, or attended any of the schools. Joy King, chair of the newly formed organizing committee, said, "we found there were many people in the village and community who were excluded from attending the reunion last June because they did not fall into the category of having entered the various Merlin high school (classes) up to 1959.

"We were overwhelmed by the response from former students, the village and surrounding community to the reunion last June," she added. King said people wanted to see another event soon with more time to visit and more inclusive.

While many events are scheduled, there is still more planning to take place.

Go to www.merlinontario.ca to get more information or contact Joy King."

You are reminded to get your Attendance Forms in to Joy so we can better judge numbers who plan to attend.

PS: THE ATTENDANCE FORMS SUBMITTED SO FAR HAVE ALL INDICATED THEY WISH TO ATTEND THE SIT DOWN DINNER. SEATING SPACE IS LIKELY TO BE RESTRICTED THEREFORE ANYONE WISHING TO ATTEND THAT DINNER SHOULD GET THE FORM IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Last edited by Jack Peltier; 10-06-2010 at 09:32 AM.
